INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING ENLIGHTENMENT ------------- First creds:::: -------------- ME (Raster) .. Carsten HAitzler is behind this.. it's mine. okay? -------------- Ben Buxton (bb@zip.com.au, Rifleman) is the great dude behind XawXPM :-) bb@zip.com.au http://www.zip.com.au/~bb/linux/ ------------- Joonas Lehtinen for the wonderful "Hotmarble" Render.. used for the one of the backgrounds (the ball , flames & checkerboard) jojule@utu.fi http://cray.tuug.utu.fi/~phoenix/ ------------- ------------- very simple: go to /usr/X11/bin cd /usr/X11/bin mv rxvt rxvt.old now go to / (root) and unarchive enlightenment1.0.alpha_test.tar.gz like: cd / tar zxvf enlightenment1.0.alpha_test.tar.gz now make sure rxvt is suid root.. so as root.... cd /usr/local/enlightenment/bin chmod a+r+x+s rxvt and just check that un /usr/X11/bin there is a symbolic link from rxvt to /usr/local/enlightenment/bin/rxvt cd /usr/X11/bin ls -al rxvt gives you ... 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 33 Oct 22 20:24 rxvt -> /usr/local/enlightenment/bin/rxvt* then unless you already have XawXPM (from Rifleman.. Ben Buxton)... and you have a SHITLOAD of fonts (trust me this will give you alot more fonts to chose from) cd / tar zxvf Xupgrade.tar.gz You have SHITLOADS OF FONTS?????? if you do.. you will need to get the neuxsfont.tar.gz from me and manually install it. I assume you knwo how to install fonts and edit the fonnts.dir and fonts.alias properly (just find the nexus entry in the files provided). now for each user that wants to run enligthenment.. su to them (or log in as them) and then in their home direcory (~/): cd ~/ tar zxvf Userfiles.tar.gz and you're done. This will have overwritten the users .xsession, .Xdefaults and .xpmrc if they have any of these. Don't worry. this is good. Now the next time you log in form xdm you'll be in enlightenment.
